It took me a while but I finally came up with a card that I will be swapping at Baltimore this weekend. It took me a while but I did it. I used an old sketch from Sweet Sunday Sketches. I keep a file of sketches that I can use at another time for my cards. I liked this one but at the time it just wasn't right for the stamp sets I was using. Sometimes when you are stumped how to do a layout on the card, do not be afraid to check out web sites that have card sketches. A lot of times, that will help you get a jumpstart with your card. What I did afterwards was all my ideas, such as the colors, stamp sets, ect. Cards do not always turn out the way you want them to. But when they do, it is such a good feeling. Enjoy the day!
This is the last card we made during March's Technique Classes. This is a card that everyone seems to be doing right now on their blogs. If you checked out my blog lately, you will notice that I also did this style of folded card for the "Love at First Stamp Blog Hop". This is a TWISTED FOLD CARD.
For this card I wanted to use something very bright and flowery since Spring was supposed to be here by now. But here in the Northeast, it is still cold and we have been having snow off and on the last few weeks. We are below temperature than normal for this time of year and that is why I just had to create a card that would make it feel like Spring was already here. Today I want to show you the cards that we are making in our Technique Classes this month. The first card I would like to show you is the Tri-Fold Card with a Twist. Shelli demonstrated a card similar at Convention. The only thing that I did was to change the colors and the subject. I decided to use a lot of bright colors that tend to give you a Spring Feel and I needed a card for Easter. This is what the outside of the card looks like.

The card is a single piece of cardstock with the Framelits wrapping around the base. I plan to send these out to my family for Easter. I hope they enjoy the card as much as I enjoyed creating it for them.

I know, I know... I am such a picky Grandmother. I can't be satisfied with making 1 design for Eli's Class Valentine's but I had to make 2! The stamp sets were jus so cute this year and I thought the girls would love to get a cute little whale for Valentine's day. Just remember these are 2 year olds who really do not care what is on their card. But I just felt the boys would appreciate the elephant and the girls would like a pink whale. Where Eli attends daycare, every Valentine's Day they have the kids exchange valentines. Of course being Grandma and a crafty person, I feel that I should make them for him to give to his classmates. They are supposed to be simple. So I decided to use the Hearts Collection Framelits to make the base of the card. When Eli saw this elephant, he got so excited so I knew that I just had to use that for his cards. So this is what I came up with. Very simple but oh does Eli like this card! I will say that the small Red Glimmer Paper heart was not in my original design. But I made a smudge there. So I punched out the small and placed it there. It looked good there so I decided to keep it there. That little bit of glitz finished the card off. Sometimes accidents are good things. The card is so simple there is not much else that I can say. But one thing I know is that Eli is happy Grandma made his valentine's this year! Enjoy your day!
I am hosting my Annual Valentine Card Buffet on February 6 at my place. The way I host my Card Buffets is that I offer 4-5 different card designs. Fro those designs, you get to choose any design or designs that you wish. And from that you get to choose how many cards you would like to make from each design. What a cute container idea! I think anyone would like to receive these "Toxic Treats". If you look very closely, you will be able to see eyeballs in the jar. Well actually they are chocolate candy balls wrapped in foil that look like eyeballs. I just think that this was an adorable way to give a special someone a Halloween treat. Well another busy day. I am beginning to pack for our vacation. Tonight I am returning to the school where I taught for 34 years for the annual PTA sponsored "Pumpkin Painting with Pop" event. I am one of the 3 guest judges. It will be nice to see some of my former students and their families. This is such a cute and easy card to make. Because there were so many people at this event and you are trying to do 6 Make & Takes, they have to be quick, easy, and they have to catch your eye. This card certainly does that! This card uses the "ANIMAL TALK" stamp set. This is another set that has a lot of versatility. It contains a bird, frog, dog, cat and various animal related sentiments. This is the card that we made this month during Technique Cards. This card is called a Double Gate Fold Card. It is so simple to make and makes such a statement. I decided to use Neutral DSP for these cards. Some were made using the darker DSP, Early Espresso and also a lighter DSP, Crumb Cake. After choosing my main colors, I thought I would make the flower using Fall colors. The supplies that I used for these cards were:

I finally got to use this stamp set. From the minute I saw this set, I liked it. I am very happy how this card came out. Today is another busy day. All the kids and their families are coming over today to celebrate my daughter's birthday and my new son-in-laws birthday which was last week. So I have food to make and get a present yet. But I love it when everyone is home. Enjoy the day!
Well the baby shower is finally over and all went well. I can now show you some of the things I have been working on. We had a Candy Buffet for the favors. I made the Candy Buffet sign using the Rosette Die and Tempting Turquoise Cardstock. The letters were made using the retired Alphabet and Daffodil Delight cardstock. After making the rosettes, I adhered them to dowels and stuck them in bud vases I had and filled them with white rice. I then stuck the dowels into the vases at various heights to create more interest. The colors were various shades of turquiose and yellow. I choose different candies that were blue and yellow. I had Blue Gummi Bears, Dove chocolate wrapped in blue, yellow sweet tart ducks, Vanilla flavored Tootsie Rolls wrapped in blue and yellow salt water taffy.
Of course I needed a favor box to put the candy in. I used the Favor Box Die to create the box. Then I used the Daffodil Striped Ribbon which is now retired around the box. The Embellished Events stamp set to decorate the front. I took the Rubber Duck Toy stamp and markers to color the stamp and stamped the image on the Apothecary Labels Framelits. I placed Cello Bags into the boxes so that they could put their candy in the box to take it home. I made 60 of them. There were 50 people at the shower but it always better if you make extra just in case. That is enough for today. I will be posting more pictures tomorrow. Enjoy the day!
I posted this card before I left yesterday. This was one of the cards that we made this month at Technique Class. This was the Faux Metal Plate Technique. It is great to use on Masculine cards especially if the image you are stamping has something to do with wheels. The supplies that I used for this card were:

The trick to this technique is to adhere the foil onto cardstock before you run it through the Big Shot. For me, I found that the Glue Stick worked the best for adhering the foil.
Well there will soon be another Baptism in our family. So I was busy over the weekend trying to get the invitations made so they could go out today. It was a last minute decision and was not made until Thursday. I guess you wonder why we are planning this event so fast. Lori's husband is from Arizona and his parents were waiting until the baby was born to come in for a visit. Well they were finally able to make there plans and are coming in right after I get back from Convention. They were here for Eli's Baptism and Lori and her husband decided that it would be nice if his parents could also be here for the new little guy. So as soon as there plans were made, the kids started to make plans for this Baptism. Needless to say, I had to quickly come up with an invite. Any other time it would not be too much to do but right now I am trying to get my swaps done for convention. But now the invitations are done so all it all worked out. I have been racking my brain all weekend to come up with ideas for my swaps at Convention. I have never been before and I am so excited to go. I want to make sure I have a decent card to swap. I love this color combination! I use it a lot. For some reason this color combination speaks to me. The blues and green give me such a cool and serene feeling and the pop of Calypso Coral is enough to make the card interesting.
The other thing I like about this card is the technique I used on the flower and leaves. It is called Water Splash. All you have to do is is stamp the image with Classic Ink and then spritz a little water on the stamp and then stamp the image. I love it because it creates such a neat effect on the image. I am pleased how this turned out. I already started to work on this card. I plan to finsh and cut all the pieces but leave the adhering them together until I leave for Salt Lake City. I am going out to Salt Lake City by train! Yes, by train. It will take 2-1/2 days to get there so I plan to take my swaps and finish them on the train. It will help the time go by faster I am sure. One of my favorite sets that is in the Occasions Mini is "HEAVEN BLESSED". I just love the Easter sets that SU is offering this year whether it is in the main catalog or in the Mini. When coming up with cards for an event, I always try to come up with a variety of styles so that my customers can find a card that their style.
This card I think is so delicate looking and is one of my favorites that I made. It also uses a number of new items found in the Occasions Mini. It uses the NEW Framelits and Edgelits. Those 2 items make this card a little bit more elegant. The color scheme is very simple but I think if this card would be more colorful, the softness of the little bunny would be lost. The rest of the card needed to be subtle and simple so the rabbit is highlighted.

When I saw this set in the 2011-12 SU Idea Book and Catalog last June, I fell in love with this stamp set. Even though it was July, when I placed my first order from that catalog this stamp set was on my order. I have waited all this time to use this set and I am soooo excited. These little bunnies are just the cutest little animals and they are doing the cutest things. For this Easter card I used the following supplies:

I love the way the plaid background came out. It is so simple to create by using the Plaid Embossing Folder. You ink up the embossing folder with one color and run it through the big shot. Clean off the embossing folder, ink it with a contrasting color, turn the paper ninety degrees and place into the embossing folder. Run it through the Big Shot and when you take it out you have created a multi-color plaid. I think the colors create a Spring feeling to this card. I was pleased with how it came out.

I am back from Regionals and it was GREAT!!! But I will post about Regionals tomorrow. I wanted to post this card before I left for Regionals. Because Eli was not feeling well, I had to watch him extra days and was not able to get to my computer. He had a fever and just clung to Grandma. It is nice in a way because you know you are loved and needed. But then you can not get things done that you wanted to get done.
This is another sympathy card that I received. This is from Pennie who is an upline above me. We were to meet up with each other at Leadership but of course my plans changed. This is the card she sent me after she returned home. The color combination is what I loved. The pop of bright color with the color Poppy Parade I think really gets your attention but it is still a soothing card with the majority of the card using Pool Party and Whisper White.
