Sympathy Framelits

This is a sympathy card from one of my side lines, Cindyrae.  We were all going to meet with each other in San Antonio but as you know, my plans needed to be changed.  My up-line and side-lines were very kind, understanding and helpful during this time.  A lot of plans needed to be changed and everyone was so gracious and did everything they could to make this rough time a lot easier.

The card Cindyrae sent me uses a lot of products  from the new Occasions Mini.  I love, love, love the new Pool Party Seam Binding that she used for the bow as well as the new larger Pearls that we are offering.  She used Watercolor Paper to stamp the image from"Apothecary Art".  The Label Framelits were used to cut out the image.  The Edgelits Die and Adorning Accents Embossing Folder were used to create the shaped edge of the card.

This card is so gorgeous!  I was shocked to receive it because everyone was already in San Antonio when I received it.  I thought it was so thoughtful of her that she quickly sent it before she left for Leadership.  I am so lucky to have such good people for friends.  Enjoy your day!

Name Cards for The Wedding

The wedding will be here soon!  My week is going to be crazy getting ready for the wedding on Saturday.  I am starting to get nervous but I am sure that everything will be perfect when the time comes.  My daughter asked me to also make the name cards for the reception.  So I did and of course I can't do simple name cards.  I had to spice them up a bit.  So here is a picture of one.  I liked the way they turned out and I am hoping that she will like them also.

The supplies that I used for these cards were:

PAPER:  Basic Black, Very Vanilla
INK: Versamark
ACCESSORIES:  Decor Wheel, Black Embossing Powder, Designer Frames Embossing Folder, Big Shot, Wide Oval Punch, Dimensionals

Like I said, the countdown is on.  You would think that this being the second child getting married I would be more calm, but I am not.  So I am off today to babysit the ring bearer who just came.  So I am now in my Grandma role.  Enjoy your day!

Leadership Swap

Although I was unable to attend Leadership this year, my swaps did.  My sideline took my swaps to San Antonio and swapped them for me.  I can't wait to see her this week to see what other ideas she came home with.  But here is the second swap that I created for the event.  I got so excited when I saw this stamp set "I DIG YOU" in the SU Catalog when I saw it in July.  I just knew it was the perfect stamp set for someone who had a boy in the family.  And since Eli had just been born, I just had to have it.  I really had not had the opportunity to play around with it before but thought that this was probably a great time to try it out.  I really like how this card came out.  The supplies that I used for this card were:

STAMP SET:  I Dig You
PAPER:  Whisper White, Cherry Cobbler, More Mustard, Night of  Navy
INK:  Night of Navy, Basic Black, Soft Suede
ACCESSORIES:  Striped Embossing Folder, Big Shot, Scallop Circle Punch, 1-1/4" Circle Punch, 1-3/8" Circle Punch, Dimensionals, More Mustard, Basic Black, and Basic Gray Markers, 3/8" Denim Jean Blue Ribbon, Scallop Border Punch

I used the Plaid Background Technique which uses the Striped Embossing Folders but I will explain that on a later post.  I think that the plaid really makes the card.  It makes the card more interesting.  and it reinforces that little boy feeling for the card.  It is a cute set for all those tough little guys out there.

It has been a long week.  I still have a lot to do this week.  I did not realize how much there is to do.  I need to thank all of you who have been so kind during this difficult time.  It is knowing that you care that has given me strength.  I am off to start making some Thank You cards.  Eli is coming over today because I need to watch him today.  Another busy day.  Enjoy your day!

Love and Sympathy Swap Card

It is strange how things in life turn out.  I was planning to go to Leadership this week and needed to prepare my swaps.  Because I have not felt well since Thanksgiving, I did not have the time to make my swaps.  So Saturday night I needed to come up with a very quick and easy swap, so I decided to remake a card that I had created for a Technique Class.  Because I had so many to make, I knew I had to make it simple with an easy technique.  From the beginning I just loved the new stamp set, Love and Sympathy.  I loved the wording of the sentiment and the flower was so elegant looking.  Although at the time, I wondered if I should be making a sympathy card for a Leadership swap.  Usually I make more upbeat swaps.

So anyway on Saturday, all day, I worked on this swap.  It was going on midnight until I finished with all the interruptions that came throughout the day.  And my this card swap was finally finished.  My Dad was just laying down since he was watching the football playoffs (which he loved) and I decided to go to bed.  In the morning I found my Father on the floor after having suffered a massive stroke.  My Father passed Monday morning.

So this morning, my sideline Susan is boarding the plane to San Antonio for Leadership with my swaps. And I decided that I would post the Love and Sympathy card today in honor of my father.  I certainly did not plan or expect that I myself would need a sympathy card this week.  But life seems to throw us many twists and turns throughout our lives.  I hope this card does my father proud.

My father lived a long and wonderful life.  He would have been 92 next month.  Unfortunately he will not be at his oldest Granddaughter's wedding in 3 weeks.  I know he was looking forward to that.  All the granddaughters, the men in their lives and his great grandson were over Saturday night for Pizza and we all had a wonderful time.  I remember thinking at the time it was happening, "What a perfect night".  And it was and that is the happy memory that I will keep with me.  The whole family together having a good time.

I will not be posting for the rest of the week.  I have a lot of arrangements to make.  I will be back next week with new projects.  Enjoy your day!  Give a loved one an extra hug today.

January Technique Classes- Card 2

This is the second of three cards that we will working on at our monthly Technique Classes.  This is a Gate Fold Latch Card.  I got the directions from Dawn Olshefske.  What a great way to fancy up a Gate Fold Card.  This techniques adds an added twist to the Gate Fold and makes it a little more interesting.  The top picture is when the card is closed.  The bottom picture lets you see how the card interlocks to close.

I used another stamp from the Sale A Bration brochure.  I used my markers to color and the stamp and get a beautiful multi-color design.  The Sale A Bration promotion starts January 24 and goes to March 31.

Another very simple card that will make a big statement to those people who receive this card.  This stamp set is one of my favorites because it has a vintage feel to it and that is more my personal style.

Well I am off and putting my nose to the grind stone today.  I need to get these swaps done and it is taking so much time.  Enjoy your day!

January Technique Classes- Card 1

This is one of the cards that we will be making at this month's Technique Classes.  The theme of the Technique Class this month is "Fancy Folds" and I have planned three different ways to fold cards.  The cards are so simple to make but having the cards folded different ways just makes the card look more special.

This is a Tri Shutter Fold card and was so simple to make.  The fold, colors and the choice of the DSP make the card very elegant.  The small pearls helped to create the more elegant feeling.  I did not finish putting the sentiments on because I am still trying to figure out if I want to use it as a Valentines' Day card or use it for someone special's birthday card.

I used a lot of products on this card that you can find in the SALE A BRATION Brochure.  The Riding Hood Red DSP and the Stamp are items you can choose from the brochure FREE if you place an order of $50.  For every $50 you spend, you are able to choose an item from the brochure.  The Sale A Bration promotion starts on January 24 and ends on March 31.

I finally started to feel like a real person again yesterday.  I think the third round of antibiotics are working.  I have also stopped coughing like a mad person since they gave me an inhaler.  Finally after a month and a half I feel better and can get things done that I have not felt well enough to do.  This afternoon I will start my Leadership swaps.  Tomorrow, I will post card 2 from this month's Technique Class.  Enjoy the day!

If you have not received your mini yet, please contact me and I will get one to you or you can click here to view the new catalog.

I will be posting my technique class cards in the next few days.  I am really behind in posting since the holidays because I have been battling Bronchitis.  I have not felt this bad in ages.  Hopefully I have enough energy today to get some samples made.

I am off and running today because I have a lot to do.  Today I am going for a fitting for my daughters wedding.  She and I both are going to have fittings for our dresses for her wedding.  I can not believe that it is only a month until she is married.  This is going to be a very busy month.  Enjoy your day!
