Paisley Petals Notepad

I decided to get away from cards for a day and made a project which I have been trying to make for a number of months. I saw the tutorial on StampingPro's blog. Click here for her blog. She has a place for tutorials and that is where I got this one.

I decided to use the New In Colors, Calypso Coral for the base of the notebook and also the DSP, "Paisley Petals" to complete this project. You will be able to find those products in the New 2011-2012 Idea Book and Catalog. July 1st is the first days that you can order those products. It was so easy to make and a very practical gift. The supplies that I used for this project were:

PAPER: Calypso Coral. Cherry Cobbler, Paisley Petals DSP
ACCESSORIES: Crumb Cake Seam Biding, Vintage Brads, Notepads, Sticky Strip

Here is the inside of the notepad.

There is a pocket that you can put receipts, stamps, coupons or whatever you wish to put in the pocket. I got the notepads at Staples. They were 5 x 7" note pads which they will cut in half if you pay extra for them to cut it. I thought it would be great to use it for your shopping list and keep coupons in the pocket.

I have a busy day today. I am getting ready for my Hostess Appreciation Gathering which I will be hosting tomorrow evening. Can't wait to get together with great people. Enjoy your day!

Another Graduation Gift Card

Well my bother in law came over Friday night and announced that he had to go shopping for cards to give our friends daughters the next day at the party. My dear husband offered my card making services so that he did not have to go to a store. So not having a lot of time, I whipped up this gift card. I forgot to take a picture of the inside. But it has a slot for the gift card.

Since I only have this SU retired stamp, "Happy Grad", It looks similar to the other gift cards. I felt that it needed something to make it pop. Our town was originally called the Barony of the Rose and so you see a lot of red roses around. That is what made me decide to use a red rose on the gift card and I feel that small amount of color adds more interest to the gift card holder. The rose stamp was a single stamp that I had laying around. I think I used this stamp on my daughter's graduation party invites over 10 years ago! So at this point I really could not tell you where it came from.

Another crazy day today with having to run Lucy back to the vet to remove her stitches and then back home to pick up Dad to take him to a Dr.'s appointment. I am hoping that after today, the appointments will get back to normal. Enjoy the day!

Happy Grads!

Tomorrow I will be going to a Graduation Party for our friends daughters. They are sisters and one graduated from college this year and her sister graduated this year from High School. Both school's colors (believe it or not) are blue and white. So all I had to do was come up with one design and make 2 of them.

Last week I made a gift card and I decided to use the same pattern to create the gift card. Because I thought I no longer needed to make Graduation cards anymore, I got sold all of my stamps that had anything to do with graduation. Lucky for me, I found the retired "Happy Grad" stamp from SU. And I have absolutely no idea where the stamp with the diploma came from. I didn't even remember I had it. But I decided I needed it to use anyway. I guess it is time for me to get some new stamps. Thank goodness, the new catalog starts on July 1 and I can order some new stamps.

Enjoy the day!

Paisley Petals Watering Can

I was stamping over the weekend and one of my friends gave this to me. Isn't it cute! She used the "NEW" Paisley Petals DSP and folded it into this watering can. Paisley Petals is a new DSP which you can find in the 2011-2012 Idea Book & Catalog. What a great item to make to use as a favor for a special occasion. I just had to show you this different way to use the new DSP. There are so many things that you can use the Designer Papers for. You don't only have to use the papers for scrapbooking or card making. Go out of your comfort zone and try different ways to use the papers and accessories that we have. I am sure you will be pleasantly surprised what you can create.

The weather looks iffy today. The clouds are looking darker as time goes by. Hopefully the sun will come out and it will turn into a beautiful day. Enjoy your day!

June Technique Class- Card 3

This is the third card that we will be making in my technique classes this month. Different people call it by different names but the name I like best is FUNKY FOLD card. Why is it that I start out with one idea in my head and by the time the card is finished, it is completely different? This card started out using the single stamp, Sail Away and I ended with the stamp set, "Fabulous Florets". But I do like the way this one turned out better because of the colors. This card screams summer flowers. I like this card too because I got to use the "NEW"colored embossing powders. Melon Mambo, Tangerine Tango, and Wild Wasabi are the colors that I used and you can find them in the Summer Mini. How bright and cheery this card looks.

I decided to make this a retirement card. One of my friends retired this month from teaching. We taught in a K-6 building and over the course of her teaching career, she taught in every grade level except Kindergarten! She is a very dear friend and our kids are close in age and basically grew up together. She deserves to relax a bit.

Well I am now going to go and set up for a technique class this morning. I hope they enjoy the cards that we will be making today. It is starting to rain here, but I hope where you are that you are enjoying better weather. Enjoy the day!

Monday, June 20, 2011

Well, I am glad to be back and posting. Last week was an extremely crazy one. I had to take my Father to 2 Dr.'s appointments last week and our dog, Lucy had her second surgery in 3 months. Her surgery was done at a place 90 minutes away, so there went to more days of appointments for her. She seems to be doing better and today is up and peppier. And my father is doing better. So hopefully things will fall into a less hectic schedule. I want to thank all my friends and customers who have kept us in their thoughts and prayers.

Today I am posting a picture of a cute gift card holder. I used the new DSP from the new catalog, " Paisley Petals". and the stamp set "Fabulous Florets" It is so cute and very easy to make. I found the directions at Stamping 411. Check it out for the directions. The supplies that I used for this project were:

STAMP SET: Fabulous Florets
PAPER: Whisper White, Daffodil Delight, Peach Parfait, Poppy Parade, Paisley Petals DSP
INK: Poppy Parade
ACCESSORIES: Versamark, Black Embossing Powder, Modern Label Punch, Word Window Punch, Scallop Circle Punch, 1-3/8" Circle Punch, 1-1/4" Circle Punch, Two Tag Die, Big Shot, Rhinestone Jewels, Dimensionals

I love to make gift card holders because I think there are so many occasions that you can use them. This is yet another different way to present a gift card. I am off to do all those little things that I could not get done last week. It is a beautiful day here today and I intend to take full advantage of it. Enjoy your day!

June Technique Class- Card 2

A Scallop Circle Easel Card is another one of the cards that we will be making in my June Technique Classes. This month was all about "FOLD CARDS", cards that use unique folds to make them. I decided to use my favorite Sizzlet (Big Bold Cupcake) on this card. This sizzlet is on the Last Chance Accessories list. So if you still would like to get it, contact me to order or go on my Online Store. The DSP Celebrations is also retiring and can be found on the Last Chance List. So make sure you order these items before they sell out.

I love the easel cards, they are so easy to display. This card is so bright and cherry. I ordered it because I thought it was a great DSP to use on children's birthday cards. The colors are so inviting for a child.

This is another one of the cards we will be making at my June Technique Classes. Here are the dates and times that I will be holding these classes:

June 21-Tuesday @ 9:15 - 11:45 AM
June 22-Wednesday @ 7 - 9:30 PM
June 25- Thursday @ 9 - 11:30 AM

The cost is $10 for 3 cards and a technique card (directions) for each technique taught.

Contact me if interested.

I am off and running for a very busy day today. It is Eli's Baptism today! I have a strict list of errands that I must adhere to this morning. I have to pick up the cake, food, ect. at different places and then come home , get ready, pack and everything up and head over to the chapel. Timing is of the essence today with everything that needs to be done. My daughter's In-Laws flew in from Arizona yesterday for this. They have not seen Eli since he was three weeks old. So this is a big day in more ways than one. I am looking forward to this wonderful although very hectic day. Enjoy your day!

June Technique Class- Card 1

I love this stamp set! It is Sunny Fun and has all those cute things you see in Summer. I choose the stamp in the set which has cute kids floating in water while riding in their inner tubes. How cute is that! I decided to use this set to make a V-Latch card. I was shown how to make this type of card at Leadership. I was just waiting for the right time to make it. I think Summer is the perfect time to make cards that are more whimsical and this card is a good card to use a more whimsical stamp set.

This is one of the cards we will be making at my June Technique Classes.

If interested please contact me.

I love the colors on this card. I think it makes you feel like it is summer. The weather here today is hot and humid so it really feels like summer here. Enjoy the day!

Retired Stamp Set Contest is Over

I held my annual "Retired Stamp Set Contest" and I have a Winner! Congratulations Joannie A.!!! Every year I have my customers try to guess what stamps will be retiring. They get to choose 30 sets of what they think will retire. Usually they choose the sets they think of been in the catalog the longest but it doesn't always work that way. This year the winner picked 19 correct stamp sets that were retired. That is the highest number that anyone has ever picked. This is what the winner got. I have have these tins that I bought a few years back and was going to do something wonderful with but never did. I think it is a great container to put some of her stamping stuff in.

Well back to work. I received the new catalog yesterday and some new sneak peek items, so I can't wait to get to play with all the new stuff I got. You will love the new In Colors and new stamp sets that are in the new catalog! Gotta go now and play. Enjoy the day!
