Christmas in July is Over!

Well, our Christmas in July event is now over. What a hot and humid day to host a Christmas in July event. I usually wear a Christmas sweater but I decided to go with a Snowman denim shirt instead. I decided to post a few pictures of how we decorated for the event. This is my favorite event of the year! We play Christmas carols, decorate Susan's house for the holidays, eat Christmas Cookies and there are even gifts until the tree for everyone.

Everyone loved the atmosphere as well as the projects. I am also posting a picture of the projects again in case you forgot what today was all about. Hopefully next year it will be a little cooler when we plan to do this. Hope you enjoyed your day today where you live.

Getting Ready for Christmas in July

Our Christmas in July Event is being held on Saturday at Susan's and this is one of the projects we will be working on. This card uses 2 of the new In Colors and I think the colors are just perfect to use in a Christmas Card. This card also uses the stamp set, "Snow Much Fun" which is new this year and you can find it in the new 2011-2012 Idea Book & Catalog.

We have 4 more projects that we will be making along with this card. We also will be making a 6' x 6' Gift Package, Gift Card Holder, Candy Wrapper, and a Gift Box. You have until tomorrow to let me know if you would like to attend. Please contact me if you are interested and I will give you more information. I extended the registration date by a few days because I did not have my computer for an extended time.

Well today I will be going swimming again since it has been so hot. I will be taking Eli along with me. Here is a picture of my husband and I swimming with him last week. Enjoy your day!

Open House Make & Take 2

Does this look familiar? That is because this was the original card that I made for my Make & Takes for my Open House. Then After my Open House, I found out I needed a Graduation card and I had extra cardstock cut. So I just changed the airplane to the graduation sentiment.

But getting back to this card, I used the new stamp set, "Need for Speed". I think it is a nice stamp set to use for a masculine card. I do not have much for a masculine card, so I bought this set. The supplies that I used for this card were:

STAMP SET: Need for Speed
PAPER: Night of Navy, Whisper White, Brushed Silver, Nautical Expedition
INK: Basic Gray
ACCESSORIES: Houndstooth Embossing Folder, Big Shot, Mini Silver Brads, Dimensionals

This is a short post today and also late because of my Grandson Eli. He is visiting for a few days without Mom. I forgot how much attention little ones need. So his needs right now are a priority and my needs are on hold for now. Next week I will be able to get some new cards done. I plan to take him swimming now, so you go enjoy the day!

Open House Make & Take

This is a quick and easy card that we made at the Open House that I had on Saturday. We made 2 cards and this was one we made using the 2011-12 In Colors. I just wanted to give my customers an idea how some of the colors co-ordinate so well with each other. I also wanted them to use one of the new products available, so I had them use the Lace Ribbon Border Punch. So this was the quick 3" x 3" card I cam up with. The supplies that I used for this card were:

STAMP SET: Thank You Kindly
PAPER: Wisteria Winder, Pool Party, Island Indigo, Whisper White
INK: Island Indigo
ACCESSORIES: Itty Bitty Punch Pack, Lace Ribbon Border Punch, Rhinestone Jewels, 2 Way Glue

This was an opportunity for my customers to get a chance to see and use some of the new products. We had a nice time together. Today it is supposed to be even hotter. I am not looking forward to that. But Eli is coming up today and maybe we can take him someplace to swim so we can all cool off. So hopefully all of you can stay cool today. Enjoy the day!

Another Graduation Party

This summer has been a summer of surprises. When the summer started I thought nothing was going to be happening much this summer but boy was I wrong. There are a lot of celebrations going on that I was not planning on such as showers, weddings , and graduation parties. This weekend we were invited to another graduation party. This one was held for a cousin's son. Really nice guy and nice family. Anyway, I needed to come up with a card. Not realizing that there were going to be so many graduation parties this year, I did not invest in a stamp set that I could use for graduation cards. I needed to go back to last years retired stamp, "Happy Grad". If you are wondering why all my graduation cards are made with blue cardstock, it is because all my graduating kids school colors are blue and white. The supplies that I used for this card were:

STAMPS: Happy Grad (retired)
PAPER: Whisper White, Night of Nave, Brushed Silver, Nautical Expeditions DSP
INK: Night of Navy
ACCESSORIES: Houndstooth Embossing Folder, Dimensionals

We never did get to the graduation party. Lucy got very ill. Because she has Addison's Disease, we have to watch her carefully in case she goes into a crisis. But the good news is the graduate got his card and Lucy is feeling better. The weather is very hot here and the heat wave is supposed to stay for at least 10 days. I hope the weather is better where you are. Enjoy the day!

July Technique Class- Card 3

Here is the third card that we will be making this month. The technique is "Brayered Folder". Such an easy technique to create a two toned piece of cardstock. I used some of the new "Scallop Polka Dotted" ribbon. It is sooo cute! It is a nice way to add a little punch to your cards. I also love those little pearls. If you look closely, you will see that I placed a few pearls in the centers of the flowers. Sometimes those little touches make a big difference in your cards.

Enjoy the day!

July Technique Class- Card 2

This is the second card that we will be working on. A very simple card but if you look closely you can see that I used 2 Embossing Folders to emboss the design on the Whisper White cardstock. A very simple technique but boy does it make an impact. I did not want to overpower the embossing that I did so I kept the layout very simple.

I still have room in the Saturday and Tuesday classes. If interested, please contact me.

July Technique Class- Card 1

Well I am finally home and so is my computer. I thought for sure when I got home from Chicago my computer would be home but no, my computer was still being repaired. The computer finally came home last night. So far it i working well and I am back to my blog.

This is one of the card that we made at Technique Class last night. I also am having Technique Classes on Saturday and Tuesday morning. All cards that we will be making this month use Embossing Folders. I love the colors that I put together for this card. This card uses four of the five 2011-13 In Colors. It also uses the new In Color Ruffled Ribbon which I absolutely love! If you have not contacted me yet to attend class this month, please email and let me know that you wish to attend.

Christmas in July Event 2011

Susan and I again are hosting a Christmas in July Event. I love this event. We decorate the house for Christmas, play Christmas music, have Christmas cookies, and plan Christmas projects all for you. Here is what we are planning to do for you this July. You get to make a 6" x 6" Gift Package which holds a pen, memo pad and Giardelli chocolate, a Penquin Candy Wrapper, Snowman Treat Box, Christmas Card, and a Gift Card Holder. This is a way to help you kick start your gift making.

Our Christmas in July Event will be held on July 30 at 9 AM- Noon. The event will be held at Susan's House and the cost is $15. Please let me know by July 23, if you plan to attend. If you have any questions, please contact me.

I will not be able to post for the next few days because my computer has to be sent out to be fixed. Please email me if you have any questions about this event or Technique Class.

Happy Fourth of July

Happy Fourth of July to everyone from me and my little firecracker!

Hostess Appreciation Make & Take

I held my Hostess Appreciation Gathering Thursday night and we really had a nice time!. It was a very relaxing, enjoyable evening. We had a nice meal before we sat down to do 2 projects. I try to make something which we have never done before, so this time we made a Squash Card. I had made Squash Books before but not a card. I saw one on Dawn Olshefske's blog and thought that it would be a great project to make at the Gathering.

As usual, I started out with one idea and ended up with something completely different. One of my sidelines loaned me her stamp set, "THE OPEN SEA", and I decided to change my bright flowery design for a more manly, masculine one. I think it turned out nicely. The supplies for this card were:

STAMP SET: The Open Sea
PAPER: Cherry Cobbler, Whisper White, Night of Navy, Early Espresso, Nautical Expedition DSP
INK: Early Espresso, Cherry Cobbler, Night of Navy
ACCESSORIES: Cherry Cobbler Baker's Twine, Dimensionals, 1-1.4" Circle Punch, 1-3/8"
Circle Punch

Everyone there really enjoyed the card.
Here is an inside view of the card. Isn't it neat how the card squashes all together to make a square card. Hopefully you can see that the card folds up to a square because of the way it is folded.

Since today is the 4th of July, I think the colors of the card are perfect for today. I am planning on a relaxing day today. I am going to start packing my things for my trip this week. I am leaving for Chicago on Wednesday for a wedding. Enjoy the day!
