Happy Memorial Day

Happy Memorial day to all of you. This card was sent to me by my friend Susan. This is another card that showcases the stamp,"Land of the Free". What a perfect card to celebrate Memorial Day!

This past weekend has been memorable for us. Thursday night we got hit by a strong storm. In the beginning of the week, they had called for Tornadoes and we did have funnel clouds near us but none touched down. It did rain extremely hard and the creek behind our house did flood over into our back yard. Those are things that we can live with. We felt very fortunate especially after what happened to Joplin, Missouri. But on Thursday night, no Tornado watches or warnings were called. The wind
started to pick up, rain started to fall, and then we heard a crash and it went dark. What happened was the wind got up to over 60 mph and it sheared the top off of one of the trees which it landed on the power lines. Our block was lined with fire trucks from various fire departments in the area. There were live wires down but other than that I don't know why they were there. It looked so funny because our backyard looked more like a crime scene than wires down. But I added a few photos of our adventure. We were without power for 16 hours. I felt very grateful it was not worse. The whole block had wires frayed and downed in their yards but it could have been much worse. There are still some wires and trees down in our backyards but we have power. This just surprised us because no weather watches were called in our area at that time. My blog was able to post on Friday because I had written it earlier and had it timed to post on Friday otherwise I would not have been able to post because we had no phone or internet because our cable was also hit.

Oh well, it has been a beautiful weekend so far. It is supposed to get very hot here today. So I will stay inside in the air conditioning and get some stamping done. I need to finish my cards for my technique classes this month. Enjoy your day!

Memorial Day Weekend

A friend of mine made this card for me. The stamp used on this card is called "Land of the Free" and can be found in the Summer Mini. It is sold as a single stamp. I looked at this stamp but wondered how I would be able to use it. Well my friend showed me how by making this great card. How perfect for this weekend coming up. The supplies used for this card were:

STAMP SET: Land of the Free
PAPER: Crumb Cake, Whisper White, Cherry Cobbler, Night of Navy
INK: Night of Navy, Cherry Cobbler
ACCESSORIES: Cherry Cobbler Baker's Twine, Sponge, Rhinestone Jewels, Night of Navy and Cherry Cobbler Markers, Square Lattice Embossing Folder, Big Shot

After seeing this card, I am thinking about getting that stamp. It is a perfect stamp to make cards for the holidays coming up this summer, for people who have family who serve in the service, or for those with summer birthdays. Enjoy the holiday weekend!

Flowers Everywhere

Isn't this card beautiful? My sideline sent it to me to let me know she is thinking of me. It is so simple but I think it is so gorgeous. Cindyrae used only 2 colors- Wild Wasabi and Whisper White. The ribbon is Stampin' Up's but it is retired ribbon from when Wild Wasabi was an In Color. But it looks so nice with this card. The supplies used for this card were:

STAMP SETS: Fabulous Florets, Pretty Postage
PAPER: Wild Wasabi, Whisper White
INK: Wild Wasabi
ACCESSORIES: Flower Garden Embossing Folder, Big Shot, Retired SU Ribbon, Postage Stamp Punch

I just want want to thank Cindyrae for her thoughtfulness. She knew I needed this card as a pick me up. My stamping family is great. They are always there when I need them.

Just had to throw this picture in of Eli. We were sitting outside over the weekend and of course made sure he was wearing his hat and wearing his shades in the sun. My husband is holding him here and he is asleep in his arms. It was fun having him here over the weekend.

Enjoy your day!

Fast and Easy Card

I needed a fast card for a guys birthday. I had seen a lot of different things done with this particular stamp and came up with this simple and easy card. I took the "Medallion" stamp, stamped it in the corner using Versamark , and clear embossed it. I then took Soft Suede and Tempting Turquoise Ink Pads and sponged those colors over top the embossed image. I used an Ice Rhinestone in the middle of the medallion and Early Espresso Ribbon to finish off the card. Here is a list of supplies that I used to make the card:

STAMP SETS: Medallion, Tiny Teeny Wishes
PAPER: Tempting Turquoise. Soft Suede, Very Vanilla
INK: Soft Suede, Tempting Turquoise, Versamark
ACCESSORIES: Modern Label Punch, Word Window Punch, Ice Rhinestone Brads, Early Espresso 1/8" Ribbon, Clear EP, Heating Tool

And there you have it, a quick and easy card that any guy would like. Enjoy your day!

Fabulous Florets

There is a great new set in the Summer Mini, named "Fabulous Florets". I love it. I think the reason I like it so much is that the set contains both solid image stamps and outline stamps. It gives you a nice variety. This is one of my reject cards for the Summer Mini Stamp A Stack. It did not make it into the event because I felt it would take too much time to make because of all the small details that had to be done on it. The leaves that are on the Pear Pizazz cardstock was made by embossing with using Clear EP. I love the color combination on this card though. And I have used this color combination on a number of the cards that I have made the last few days. The supplies that I used for this card were:

STAMP SET: Fabulous Florets
PAPER: Peach Parfait, Pear Pizazz, Whisper White
INK: Peach Parfait, Pear Pizazz, Poppy Parade
ACCESSORIES: Certainly Celery 3/8" Taffeta Ribbon, Clear EP, Heating Tool, Scallop Oval Frame Sizziz Die

I took a break from stamping this weekend to watch my grandson while his parents went to Dorney Park for the day. We had so much fun watching him. I had my cousins drive down for the day from Connecticut. They came to see Eli and visit with my father. What a wonderful day it was! Here is a picture of Eli playing with his toys while everyone was visiting with each other.
Like I said before, it was a fantastic day! Enjoy your day!

Flower Garden & Summer SAS

Here is another card that we will be working on at our Summer Mini Stamp A Stack. So many people are using this Flower Garden embossing folder and color the flowers in a variety of ways. Some are using blender pens and others are using pastels. I decided to use ink on sponge daubers to color the flowers and stems. I have used this color combination for many cards this spring. I used Peach Parfait, Melon Mambo, and Pear Pizazz. They just seem like a great Spring color combo. Our Summer Mini Stamp A Stack will be held on June 18 at Susan's house. If interested or would like more information, please contact me.

I have a busy day today. Have to run to Dr's and Vet appointments today. So I had to post a short one today with all this running. Enjoy your day!

Summer Mini Stack A Stack

This is one of the cards that we are going to offer our customers to make at our Summer Mini Stamp A Stack. I CASEd this card from Elaine Uhl. I loved the layout. I like the idea of the punched out hole so that you only get a glimpse of what is underneath. I decided to make it a little bit more summery, so I changed up the cardstock for Tempting Turquoise. I then used various papers from the Pawsitively Prints DSP to brighten the card up.

I also changed up the ribbon. I like the card because I think it looks very whimsical! I colored the kids inside he card with colored pencils and used Blender Pens to soften and blend the colors together.

Today is a very busy day. I have a lot to do getting ready for the weekend. My daughter , her husband and Eli are coming up for the weekend. I get to watch Eli on Saturday because they have someplace they have to go. I can't wait to watch him. I just had to post this picture of him. This was taken when I watched him last. Although by the look of this picture, Lucy seems to have taken my job away from me. Enjoy your day!

Bridal Shower Prizes

This is a project that one of my customers brought to class this past Saturday. I thought it was so cute I had to show it. Pam's daughter is getting married in August and her shower is next month and these will be the prizes for the games that they will be having at the shower. Pam chose the colors match the colors of the girls gowns and the flowers. The containers are empty Crystal Light containers. I thought those containers were adorable. It is enough to get me to start drinking Crystal Light so I can get those containers. Inside the container is a package of tissues and a hand sanitizer. How cute!

Pam's daughters colors are pink and orange so she decorated some containers with the pink flowers and others using the orange flowers. so of course I had to show both colors on the containers.

I love it when my customers show me the projects they do at home. So thank you Pam. I can't wait to try my hand at making these cute gifts. Hmmmmmm... maybe something for Christmas? You will just have to wait and see. The wheels in my head are working overtime all ready, thinking of ways that I can use these.

May Technique Class- Card 3

This is the third card that we will be making in May's Technique Classes. The technique that I used making this card is called "Plaid Stamping" You can see it on the Damask stamp. To highlight the technique, the rest of the card is monochromatic. I used Crumb Cake for the card and Early Espresso for the ribbon and trim. I used Peach Parfait, Pumpkin Pie and Poppy Parade ink pads to create the plaid effect on the Damask stamp. Using these colors, the technique stands out. It is a very simple card but I think it is elegant looking. So far the people who have attended my classes liked this card.

Tomorrow I plan to take a few hours for me. I am going for a mani pedi and then some shopping for Eli for his Baptism. It seems like I always have something going. Then tomorrow night is my last technique class for the month. I will then have to start creating my cards for next month's technique classes. The theme for next month's classes will be Fancy Fold Cards. I can't wait to work on those cards. Go out and enjoy the day today!

Another Nautical Card

I know the last couple of days, it seems like there is a nautical theme going on. But let me show you this card and I promise that I will post a different themed card tomorrow. This card also uses the Nautical Expeditions DSP. If you look closely at the brown DSP, you can see small anchors as part of the patter. The stamp set used here is called "The Open Seas". This is such a masculine feeling card. Another great card for Father's Day or a male Birthday. This particular card was made for me by my upline Kim. I received this card for being in the top 5 of sales in the Love at First Stamp group. What a great job she did! Thanks Kim. The supplies that she used for this card were:

STAMP SET: The Open Seas
PAPER: Early Espresso, Crumb Cake, Nautical Expeditions DSP
INK: Early Espresso, Cherry Cobbler
ACCESSORIES: Cherry Cobbler Baking Twine, 2-1/2" Scallop Circle Punch, Vintage Trinkets, 2-1/2" Circle Punch

I love this card. I hope you loved it also. Tomorrow I will post May's Technique Classes Card 3. Enjoy the day!

Sail Away

After the last couple of chaotic days, this is what I wish I could do- sail away! But seriously...so much you can do with this single stamp. At first I was not sure what I would make with it but I am so glad I bought it. the Nautical Expeditions DSP is another great buy. Everyone is always looking for product which is more masculine and this DSP is the perfect choice to create a masculine card. I used watercolor paper for the sailboat and then I stamped the image on the paper with Staz-On. After stamping the image, I used Aquapainters with my stamp pads to color in the scene. For this card I used:

STAMP SET: Sail Away
PAPER: Cherry Cobbler, Not Quite Navy, Soft Suede, Nautical Expeditions DSP, Watercolor Paper
INK: Bashful Blue, Sahara Sand, Soft Suede, Not Quite Navy, Black Staz-On
ACCESSORIES: 3" Circle Die, Big Shot, 5/8" Neutral Jumbo Brad, Corner Round Punch, Dimensionals, Square Lattice Embossing Folder

I was pleased with how it turned out. What a manly man card! Any guy would love to receive this card for his birthday or Father's Day. Enjoy your Day!

May Technique Class- Card 1

Sorry I did not post these cards earlier but I waited until today to finish these cards until my order was delivered from Stampin' Up because I was waiting for some items that I had ordered for this month. This card was totally different from what I started out with. Totally! This is the "Water Splash Technique" that we will be learning this month in technique class. . It is so subtle but it does add something to the card. The stamp set and the Embossing folder are from the new SUMMER MINI. I love both products. I think this is a very simple card but simplicity is always good when you make a card. Sometimes the more you add, you loose the main focus of the card.

If you like this card, please join us for this month's technique classes. We will make 3 cards/envelopes using three different stamping techniques. The classes are:

Saturday, May 14 @ 9-11:30 AM
Tuesday, May 17 @ 9:15-11:45 AM
Wednesday, May 18 @ 7-9:30 PM

The cost is $10 for 3 cards/envelopes plus 3 technique instruction cards.

Please contact me if interested.

Check back this week to see the rest of the cards. Enjoy the day!

Eli's Baptism

My daughter came to me and asked me if I would make cards to send out so that so special people in their lives could come and share in Eli's Baptism. He will be Baptized on his 6 month birthday. They waited that long so that Eli's other set of parents would be able to travel in to Pennsylvania from Arizona. I showed my daughter a few different stamp sets and she chose the "Crosses of Hope" stamp set. She loved this delicate cross. I added the pearls to make it a little bit more elegant and regal.

We then chose the sentiment from a old but good standby
stamp set called, "Buggies and Booties". I loved this stamp set and was sad to see it go. But every once in a while, I borrow it from my friend to make a card for a special person.

Here is the card finished. I thought it turned out really well. It was a collaborative effort with my daughter and I. I showed her a number of different layouts and accessories but this is the one we finally come up with.

The supplies that I used for this card were:

STAMP SETS: Crosses of Hope, Buggies and Booties (retired)
INK: Bashful Blue Craft
PAPER: Whisper White, Bashful Blue
ACCESSORIES: Jewels-Pearls, Clear EP, Heating Toll, Perfect Details Texturz Plate, Big Shot, Square Lattice Embossing Folder, Scallop Trim Border Punch, Dimensionals

Sorry I have been missing this week from posting on my blog but I had Dr.'s appointments 3 days this week and a trip to the vet. It has been a very busy week for us but I guess a good week for the Dr.'s. My Father is having some health concerns right now and so that is where my focus is for now. So please be patient with me if I can not post as often as I would like to. Hopefully next week will be better. This weekend should be fun because Eli will be coming with his parents to visit this weekend. I think we all need time to relax and enjoy our time together this weekend. Go out and enjoy the day!
