Internet, Telephone but no Electric!

Just an update with what is going on here at my home. I thought I would be posting new projects this week but Hurricane Irene had different plans for me. We got my daughter, her husband, and Eli moved in on Saturday before the rain came. Sunday, was a different problem. Hurricane Irene sent us rain and wind. The creek did not overflow. Yeah!!! But the sewer came up in the basement/garage and the ground water came in also. So the sump pump was going all morning until there were sparks and a flash and NO ELECTRIC! So my husband got the generator going so the refrigerators would still be running. The kids came up to our house to stay because they also had no electric but at least we had the generator.

Today the neighbor called the electric company and they said we would probably get our electric back on Sunday or Monday. So with things as crazy as they are here. I probably will not be able to post again until the electric comes back on.

Please check back next week for a posting with a card. I am off to try to get our dinner going on the grill again. Thank goodness I thought ahead and bought things that we could make on the grill. Although we did not think the electric would be off this long or longer. Enjoy your day!

Be Back Next Week

My life this week has been chaotic and the next few days will not be any better. I have been busy trying to get ready for my daughter and her family moving into my Dad's home. The big move is starting today and continuing over the weekend.

Hurricane Irene is also a threat to visit this weekend. Although we will only get the heavy rain from that hurricane, we live near a small creek and we expect it to overflow and create some flooding. So the last couple of days we have put things up off the floor in our basement because we fear that water will be coming into the house. After Hurricane Ivan we experienced the creek overflowing, the driveway flooding with water a foot high, water in the basement, and electric out for a while. So we have been trying to be more prepared this time.

So after this crazy weekend, I will be back. Please join me again then. I am off to help in the moving process. Enjoy your day!

Fall is Near!

This morning I woke up and went outside and it felt like a Fall morning. I was so happy because I knew my favorite season is on its way. So I decided that I had to post a picture of the fall card that I made this weekend. I love the leaves in the Fall when they are changing colors. It is just a gorgeous time of year for me anyway. So keeping that in mind, I made sure that my leaf had a variety of colors so that it looked like a Fall leaf. To achieve that effect I used the Rock and Roll method.

The supplies that I used on this card were:

STAMP SET: Gently Falling
PAPER: WHisper White, Pool Party, More Mustard, Early Espresso, Spice Cake DSP
INK: Early Espresso, More Mustard Cajun Craze
ACCESSORIES: Buttons(Regal), Dimensionals, 2-1/2" Circle Punch

The items that are typed in red are items you will be able to find in the new Holiday Mini which you will be able to purchase product from starting on September 1.

This card was made over the weekend while trying out some of the items that you will be able to buy on Sept. 1. I enjoyed making it and I hope you enjoyed it. I am hoping that today will be as beautiful as it was yesterday. Enjoy your day!

The supplies that she used were:

STAMPS: Raining Flowers
PAPER: Whisper White, Basic Black, Poppy Parade DSP
INK: Basic Black, Poppy Parade
ACCESSORIES: Pearls, Pear Pizazz Seam Binding, Itty Bitty Shapes Punch

Today I am getting ready for our first Holiday Stamp A Stack tomorrow. So another busy day tomorrow. Got to get going. There is a lot to do today. Enjoy the day!

My Friend

Sorry I have not posted the past couple of days but it has been extremely hectic around here. This past weekend has been a birthday dinner, family reunion, and Lucy was ill. Our dog has Addison's Disease and she had an Addisonian Crisis this weekend. It was very scary to watch her collapse. But fortunately we have a wonderful Vet and he took very good care of her. We got her back from the vet at the beginning of the week but we have been watching her very carefully since she came home. We need to make sure her her medication dosage is working.

I really have not had much time to do any new cards this week. So I decided to post this card that my upline sent me for being in the top 5 sellers for July. Isn't this card neat!

The supplies that she used for this card were:

Stamps: My Friend
Inks: Rich Razzleberry
CS: Crumb Cake, Early Espresso, Very Vanilla and DSP-Pocketful of Posies
Accessories: Punches-Fancy Flower and 1/16" Circle, Big Shot, Textured Impression Embossing Folders-Stripes, Sticky Strip, Stampin' Dimensionals, Glimmer Brads-Basic and 1/2" Seam Binding Ribbon-Baja Breeze

What a nice surprise to get this card this month. Well I am off and running today. Lori and Eli are up and today we are going to a couple different Day Care Centers to see if we can find a good one for him. They will be moving back into this area because Lori found a job closer to this area. Now we have to find Eli a good place to stay during the day. We will be watching him 2 days a week but she needs to find some place for the other days. By the end of the month, all of them will be living closer by. This is just a very busy time for us and our whole family.

Hopefully this afternoon when everyone goes back home, I will be able to sit down and work on some of my own projects. I would like to enjoy a nice relaxing afternoon for a day. Wouldn't we all! Enjoy the day!

August Technique Class- Card 3

Here is the third and final card that we will be making this month. The technique that I used on this card is really how I made the bow. The bow is made using a fork! Yes, a fork. I heard about people making bows at Leadership using forks. I have a rough time making bows and when I heard that there might be a better way to do it, I was ready to try it. And guess what? It does work! So here is my card using a bow that was made with a fork! I am hoping that my customers are as impressed as I am that a fork can help make my bows look so much better>

Enjoy the day!

August Technique Class- Card 2

Here is a look at Technique Card number 2. This is the "Black Magic Technique". I think was a great technique to combine it with a more elegant look. I am very happy with the way it turned out. I used the Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder for the background. I love that embossing folder because it helps to make projects have a more elegant feel. I chose the colors also because I was trying to achieve that elegant feeling.

Enjoy your day!

August Technique Class- Card 1

This is a technique that I am so excited to do. It is called "Embossed Plaid". Years ago, Stampin' Up had a plaid background stamp that I used a lot. I was so disappointed to see it retire. I sold it after it retired but always missed it. So you can imagine how excited I got when I found out how I could create a gingham background. I saw this technique used on a couple of different blogs and I tried it myself. I also love the new In Colors so I decided to use them on this project. My new favorite color is POOL PARTY and you will probably see a lot more cards that I make using that color.

The Technique Classes for this month are scheduled on:
Saturday August 13 @ 9-11:30 AM
Tuesday August 16 @ 9:14- 11:45 AM
Wednesday August 17 @ 7-9:30 PM

Please contact me if you would like to attend. I still have room.

Enjoy your day!

Happy Birthday to Me

I had a birthday a few weeks ago. So a some of my Stamping Sisters sent me Birthday cards. It was a milestone birthday so it was very nice that they acknowledged it. I received this card from Cindyrae who lives a distance away from me. I do not get to see her much usually only at a Regional but I always enjoy getting together with her.

These are the supplies that she used:

STAMP SET: My Friend
PAPER: Whisper White, Calypso Coral
INK: Calypso Coral
ACCESSORIES: White Satin Ribbon, Modern Label Punch, Vellum, Beautiful Wings Embosslit, Vellum, Pearls

I have not made any new cards that the last few days because I was waiting for my new preview Mini items to arrive. But I think there is a problem with the order. I need to call SU today to double check. So I decided to post this birthday card until I can straighten things out. I think this is such a beautiful card. It was such a surprise and very much appreciated. Thanks again Cindyrae!

A little "Elebration"

When I first saw this elephant stamp, I knew I just had to have it. It is called "ELEBRATION" and is sold as a single stamp. Now that I am a Grandma, I am more aware of what kids would like. So when I saw this stamp I thought it would put a smile on Eli's face.

I decided to stamp the elephant image on watercolor paper with Staz-On and then watercolor the image. I love the new Pool Party cardstock so I made sure that was part of the background color. The supplies that I used for this card were:

STAMPS: Elebration, Swirls and Curls Verses (Hostess in Summer Mini)
PAPER: Pool Party, Island Indigo, Lucky Limeade, Whisper White
INK: Basic Gray, Pretty in Pink, Daffodil Delight, Lucky Limeade, Pool Party, Island Indigo
ACCESSORIES: Stripes Embossing Folder, Aquapainters, Blender Pen, Black Staz-On

The sentiment from the Summer Mini fits in so well with the balloon the elephant is holding. I think this card is sure to put a smile on any kids face. Enjoy the day!

Sunflower Thank You

I am loving playing with all my new products from Stampin' Up! I was so excited when I saw this "Sunflower" background stamp in the new catalog. I love Sunflowers. I could not wait to try it out. Last night my friend came over and for the first time in a while, we just sat down and stamped the night away. This was one of the cards that I worked on.
I decided that I needed to make sure that my customers know that I appreciate their business. So I decided that I would include a Thank You note with each order. Last night was the night I finally sat down and started to create them. The supplies that I used for these 3" x 3" note cards were:

STAMPS: Sunflower, Thank You Kindly
PAPER: Whisper White, More Mustard, Cajun Craze
INK: Daffodil Delight, More Mustard, Cajun Craze
ACCESSORIES: Sponges

To create a multi-color flower, I sponged the various colors onto the background stamp. I hope that my customers enjoy the cards. Well I am off for the day. Eli is coming up to visit his Grandma and Grandpop today. I am sure he will keep us busy today. Enjoy your day today!
