April Technique Class- Card 2

This month's theme for Technique Class was "Novelty Cards".  From the outside this card does not look like it would come under the theme of a novelty card, but look what happens when you open the card.

The presents jump out at you!  Isn't that adorable?  Kids would love this card.  Well, I think anyone would enjoy this card.  It looks complicated, but once you have the dimensions and you do it once, it is not as bad as it looks.  I do have to admit that the first time you look at this card, you feel overwhelmed.  But that feeling goes away when you see what you have created.

This month has flown by.  I have had too many extra activities that I have had to do this month.  A lot of my friends and family's children are either getting married or having babies in the upcoming months.  It is a wonderful time in all their lives but it makes for a crazy time trying to keep up with it all.  Tomorrow I will post the last April Technique Card.  And then after that I will start posting some sneak peeks from the new 2013-14 Catalog which you will be able to order from beginning May 31.  Enjoy the day!

Baltimore Make & Take

We made 3 great Make & Takes at the Baltimore Regional this past weekend.  And I would like to share another one with you.  I thought this  was a neat project.  It is a note pad tithe a top cover that we created.  This project also used the stamp set "CLOCKWORKS" .  I always thought that this stamp set had a masculine look to it but the way we used it on this project, I saw how it could be used in a more feminine way.  The supplies that were used for this card were:

STAMP SETS:  Clockworks, One in a Million
PAPER:  BAsic Gray, Whisper White, Pool Party, More Mustard, Garden Green, Calypso Coral
INK:  Basic Gray, Calypso Coral, More Mustard, Garden Green
ACCESSORIES:  Calypso Coral Baker's Twine, Vintage  Faceted Designer Buttons,  Fancy Flower Punch, Simply Scored Scoring Tool, Sanding Block, Glue Dots

If you look closely, you can see that we scored the Basic Gray Card stock in a grid like pattern.  We then used the Sanding Block to distress the pattern.  I thought it was a really cool idea.

Enjoy the day!

Baltimore Regionals!

Had a wonderful time in Baltimore!.. I got to see old friends and made some new.  Lots and lots of swapping going on.  Later this week I will post some.  We saw the new In Colors in person!!!  And they are beautiful!  I guarantee that everyone will love them.  We were able to touch and see them but we can not show or post them at this time.  But they are definitely worth waiting for.  And again we made beautiful Make & Takes.  Here is Susan and Kristen working on them.  And below is one of the Make & Takes that we created.  All of the Make & Takes were made with the stamp set "CLOCKWORKS".  I often thought of buying the set but was not sure what I would do with it.  But after this weekend and
everything we did with it, it is on the top of my list to get now.  I really liked what you were able to do with it.

Talented Demos presented "Workshop Wows" and they were fantastic.  They gave us lots of ideas that can help us in our own workshops.  I know I will be showing my customers some of those Wows that were presented in upcoming Technique Classes.

After a wonderful day, Shelli was available to talk to and say hello.  Of course Susan and I just had to go over and say hello to her.  A fellow demo was kind enough to take our picture. She is so kind and patient to meet with all the people that would like to talk to her.  And there were a lot were there.  I think I remembered someone saying that were 850 people there.  I know there were a lot of people there.  It was wonderful because it generated so much energy in the room.

Before I wrap up this post, I will also post a pic of one of the swaps I received.  This card uses the "By the Tide" stamp set.  I received a number of swaps made with this stamp set.  I am hoping that this stamp set will be carried over from the Spring Catalog and be in the "NEW" 2013-14 Catalog.

As you can see, the weekend was very exciting.  And over the next few days and months, I plan to share that excitement with you.  Enjoy the day!

We're Here!

Finished with the driving to Baltimore and we are finally here in our room.   We are both on the computer trying to figure out how to figure out a new program on our computer.  I am working on trying to get my Stampin' Up blog running and also I am trying to figure out Facebook.    Yes, I am  trying to finally hook up to Facebook.  I told you NEW things were going to happen this year!  I plan to have it done by June 1.  But hopefully I will have set it up before that.  So you can see why I am so deep in thought!  So much to figure out!  Enjoy the day!

April Technique Class- Card 1

This month's theme for Technique Class is "NOVELTY CARDS".   At least once a year I hold a class where we make a more novelty type of card more so than a technique.  I thought that Novelty Cards this month would be good especially with Mother's Day and Father's Day approaching fast.  I can not take credit for this card at all.  This was an absolute case from a card I received as a swap card at convention.  It came from Penny Ginnery.  When I saw the card, I told her that I would be using it at one of my classes.  Although the sentiment says Happy Father's Day, this card could be used for any occasion by changing the sentiment.  The card is made up all from punches and framelits.  I will be holding classes next week on Tuesday and Wednesday and also on April 27.  If interested, please contact me.

This a short post because I am leaving for Baltimore in 2 hours for a Stampin' Up Regional Event.  I am so excited.  Gotta go  and finish packing.  Will post again on Monday when I get home.  Enjoy the weekend!

Need For Speed Swap

When I go to events where you swap, I usually try to take one masculine card.  People are always looking for masculine cards at these events.  So this time I cam up with this quick and simple card for a masculine swap.  The supplies that I used for this card were:

STAMP SETS:  Need for Speed, Best Dad Ever
PAPER:  Whisper White, Brushed Silver, Real Red, Basic Black
INK:  Basic Black, Versamark
ACCESSORIES:  Black Embossing Powder, Heating Tool, Scallop Duo Die, Houndstooth Embossing Folder, Big Shot, Naturals Glimmer Brads

This is a really quick swap.  If I was going to give this card to someone, I would probably color the car red using a Blender Pen.  This post is really short because I am getting ready to go into New York City to see "The Chew"!!!!  I love that show and this will be my second time going.  So enjoy the day because I know I am!

Baltimore Regional Swap

It took me a while but I finally came up with a card that I will be swapping at Baltimore this weekend.  It took me a while but I did it.  I used an old sketch from Sweet Sunday Sketches.  I keep a file of sketches that I can use at another time for my cards. I liked this one but at the time it just wasn't right for the stamp sets I was using.  So when trying to figure out what to make, I went through my files and came up with this sketch.  I liked how this card turned out.  The supplies that I used for my card were:

STAMP SETS: Embellished Events, Summer Silhouettes, EnFrancois,  Flowering Flourishes
PAPER:  Whisper WHite, Old Olive, Rich Razzleberry, Pink Pirouette, Pool Party Core'dinations
INK:  Pool Party, Old Olive, Rich Razzleberry , Primrose Petals, Pink Pirouette
ACCESSORIES:  Bitty Butterfly, Punch, Honeycomb Embossing Folder, Bitty Banners Framelits, Big Shot, Sanding Block, Rhinestone Jewels, Glue Dots, Dimensionals

Sometimes when you are stumped how to do a layout on the card, do not be afraid to check out web sites that have card sketches.  A lot of times, that will help you get a jumpstart with your card.  What I did afterwards was all my ideas, such as the colors, stamp sets, ect.   Cards do not always turn out the way you want them to.  But when they do, it is such a good feeling. Enjoy the day!

There is a New Kid in the Neighborhood

Yes, there is a new kid in the neighborhood!  Little Libby.  One of our family members lives across the street from us and she just had a baby girl!  She is so cute and tiny! I made a card for this wonderful occasion.  Joy loves  it when I make cards for her for special occasions.  So I needed to make one for the arrival of her baby girl.  The supplies I used for this card were:

STAMP SETS:  Baby Prints, Cuddles and Kisses
PAPER:  Whisper White
INK:  Pink Pirouette, Regal Rose
ACCESSORIES: 3/8" Pink Pirouette Taffetta Ribbon, Flower Trim, Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder, Big Shot

I love the "Cuddles and Kisses" stamp set in the Spring Catalog.  It is  (in my opinion ) the best baby sentiment stamp set they ever offered.  It has sentiments for adopted babies, new grandparents, twins and the usual boy baby, girl baby, and congratulations.  I think it is an extremely versatile set and I made sure I bought it.  If you need an all purpose Baby Sentiment stamp set, this set is for you.

Since Libby is a very tiny girl, I wanted the card to be delicate and light.  I think this is the perfect card for her.  Since she lives right across the street and Lori's boys and Joy's girls are very close in ages, so I am sure we will be seeing a lot of them.   Enjoy the day!

Hybrid Card for Mom

Here is another sample of what you can do with MDS.  I love the simplicity of this card although it looks more complicated than it really is.  The sentiment was created with MDS.  All you need to do is print it the size you wish, cut it to the size you need and then adhere to the card.  What could be simpler!  The supplies that was used for this card were:

STAMP SET:  None
PAPER:  Crumb Cake, Calypso Coral Patterns DSP, Starfruit Patterns DSP, Soft Suede, Early Espresso
INK:  Calypso Coral
ACCESSORIES:  Doily, 7/8" Scallop Circle Punch, 1-1/4" Circle Punch, 1/2"Circle PunchVintage Faceted Designer Buttons, Dimensionals

I have never used MDS before to make a Hybrid card, I used my MDS mostly for scrapbooking pages and photo books.  But after making a few Hybrid cards, I think I will have to make sure that I use MDS more often when creating my cards.  Today I am going to start to work on my Regional swaps, so it will be a busy dy.  Enjoy the day !

Friends

I am posting this card today because I am pretty sure I am going to send it to my best friend.  I need to thank her for all her help yesterday.  I needed to finish Baby Shower invites for another friend of mine but I just had so much else that I needed to do.  So I called our other friend to see if she could help with finishing the invites.  She came over to help but she had difficulty with the one step.  For some reason, I was the only one that could get the trick to do it.  But she ended up feeding the 2 grandbabies and watching them so that I could finish.  What a good friend!  So I think she more than deserves this great card.  The supplies that we used on this card were:

STAMP SET:  None
PAPER:  Crumb Cake, Whisper White, Calypso Coral DSP, Patio Party DSP, Pool Party Core'dinations
INK:  None
ACCESSORIES:  2011-2013 In Color Polka Dotted Brads, Honeycomb Embossing Folder, Bottle Caps, Big Shot, Glue Dots, MDS

If you were wondering how the sentiment was made, it was created by using MDS from Stampin' Up.  What a great way to customize the size and color of your sentiments to fit your card.  This was another of the cards that was created at the downline meeting.  I really had never thought to incorporate MDS in my cards before.  So I think this is a great way to start.

Another busy day running errands that I have had to put off because of watching the boys.  No Grandsons today so I need to get a lot done. Enjoy your day!

Another Card from Janet's

I told you that I had spent the day at Janet Wakeland's downline meeting last weekend.  Well this is another one of the cards that we made there.  I love this color combination.  To me it feels so calming.  This card uses the DSP from the "SENT WITH LOVE" promotion that is going on right now until the end of this month.  The supplies that were used for this card were:

STAMP SETS:  Best of 25 Years-Love,  Family Reunion, En Francois
PAPER:  Crumb Cake, Sent with Love DSP, Vellum
INK: Crumb Cake, Calypso Coral, Versamark
ACCESSORIES:  Doily, Bitty Butterfly Punch, Apothecary Labels Framelits, Big Shot, Pearl Jewels, Needlepoint Border Embossing Folder, 5/8" Flower Trim, Sponge Dauber, Early Espresso Embossing Powder, Heating Tool, Decorator Label Punch

It has a lot of layers but still remains very delicate for that special woman in your life-Mom. Although my mother has passed, I am going to change the sentiment to Daughter.  That will be very easy to do because the "Family Reunion" stamp set contains all the family titles that you need to make a card for that favorite relative in your life.

Speaking of favorite relatives in my life, here is a pic of my grandsons yesterday on Easter.
Emmett was getting ready for the Easter Feast,   Carter was chilling with a good book, and Eli was icing the Lamb Cake his mother made us for dessert.  Spoiler Alert***  Eli ate most of the icing and started eating the cake before he finished!  Luckily his Mom had made one for us and put it to the side so we would be sure to have dessert.

Enjoy the day!
