Christmas Page

I have been sick all week and still not feeling well but needed to post on my blog. So I decided to post this page that I made for the My Digital Studio scrapbook that I am working on for Eli. I make 2 pages a month for him. When he turns 1, I will give Lori the scrapbook of his first year as a Christmas present. This is the page that made for his first Christmas. He was 2 weeks old then. How he has grown in just 2 short months.

I am really getting into using MDS. There are so many things that you can do with it. I already made Birth Announcements, Scrapbook, and I think I start working on a Calendar for presents for next Christmas. The possibilities of what I can make are endless!

I am going to rest now and hopefully start to feel better. So you go out and enjoy the day!

Lots of Circles

I cased this card from one I received at Leadership in Nashville. It was a swap I received from Connie Sylvester. This card uses the Inlaid Embossing Technique. I really like that technique and it so very easy today. All you do is punch out shapes and in this card I punched out a variety of colors and variety of sized circles. I adhered the circles to the Certainly Celery with a glue stick. I then ran that cardstock with the circles glued on, through the Big Shot using the Square Lattice Embossing Folder. When you take it out of the Embossing Folder it looks as though it is a single sheet of polka dotted cardstock. It is so cool. I tried to very bright colors for this card to make it look festive, so I changed the colors a bit. Susan and used this card for our Stamp A Stack today. Everyone loved this card. For this card I used:

STAMP SET: Bring on the Cake
PAPER: Temping Turquoise, Pacific Point, Tangerine Tango, Melon Mambo, Daffodil Delight, Whisper White
INK: Black Staz-On, Tangerine Tango, Pacific Point
ACCESSORIES: 1" Circle Punch, 1-1/4" Circle Punch, 1-3/8" Circle Punch, 1-3/4" Circle Punch, 2-3/8" Scallop Circle Punch, Aqua Painter, Dimensionals, Daffodil Delight Marker

This is a great card for a kid or an adult who is a kid at heart. Another simple card but one that makes a festive statement. Try the Inlaid Embossing Technique. Once you have tried this technique, I know you will use it over and over again. Go out and enjoy your day!

February Technique Class- Card 3

I have got to look into buying a new camera because the pictures that I have been taking the last few months have not been turning out well. I can not even fix the color with my photo shop. So please believe me when I tell you that this card looks much better in person than in this photo. The third technique this month is "FAUX ALLIGATOR". You have to look really close but the flap on the purse is where I used the technique. It has an alligator hide look to it. I also lightly sponged over the embossed design with a shade darker ink color so that the design really pops. I used Crumb Cake Seam Binding to create the handle. I wanted to use something light so it would not add a lot of weight to the card if I wanted to send it through the mail. This card is different for me because I usually do not make novelty cards. But I think it turned out cute. I still have room for my February 16 @7-9:30pm class and February 19 @9-11:30am class. Contact me if you are interested.

Tonight my husband is taking me out for a Valentine's Day dinner. We were so busy yesterday that we decided to celebrate a day later. Enjoy your day!

Happy Valentine's Day

Happy Valentine's Day from me and my favorite little Valentine! He was 2 month's old on Friday. So I made him a very quick page for his first Valentine's Day with My Digital Studio. What a great tool! Since I have my Grandson, I am using it more and loving it! I think that I will print this one out and put it in a frame for my daughter. I know she will love it. Have a great day today!

February Technique Class- Card 2

This is the second card that everyone will be making for our February Technique Classes. This technique is called "Paper Lantern". I think that when you are doing this technique that you need a stamp that gives you that Asian feel. The branch from the stamp set "Easter Blossoms" which you can find in the Occasions Mini was a perfect choice for this card. Very simple but the pearls at the bottom right corner adds a small elegant touch. "Easter Blossoms" is a great set and you will be seeing more of this stamp set on my blog over the next few months. If you would like to attend one of my Technique Classes please contact me. The dates are 2/15/11, 2/16/11, and 2/19/11. Contact me for times.

February Technique Class- Card 1

This month's classes are all about "FAUX'S". The first one that I am showing you is Faux Clouds. It is a technique that tries to make those clouds look fluffy. The "Plane and Simple" stamp set is a perfect set to use with this technique. Since we did "Inlaid Embossing" last month at our classes, I felt I could use it again on this card. The bottom half of this card uses that technique. This set is also a good set to use for a masculine card. A Glimmer Brad finishes off this card.

This month's classes are Tuesday February 15 @ 9:15-11:45 am, Wednesday February 16 @ 7-9:30 pm, and Saturday February 19 @ 9-11:30 am. If you are interested, please contact me.

My grandson is coming tonight to visit for the weekend. So I am off to get everything ready. Today he is 2 months old! Can't wait to hold him. Hope you enjoy your day, I know I will!

Welcome Baby Henry!

My daughter's best friend from High School gave birth to a baby boy, Henry. I have not seen him yet but my daughter went to see her this weekend. She said he is so cute! I had to make her a card for this special occasion, so here it is. She loves it when I make cards for her for special occasions so I tried to make sure that I would not disappoint her. She did not want to know what she was having before she gave birth, so the nursery was decorated in neutral tones in a jungle theme. So I tried to use the neutral tones but added Bashful Blue since he is a boy. For this project I used:

STAMP SETS: Fox and Friends, Occasional Quotes
PAPER: Bashful Blue, Crumb Cake, Whisper White Chocolate Chip
INK: Chocolate Chip
ACCESSORIES: Blue Gingham Ribbon (retired SU), Double Scallop Square Die, Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder, Perfect Details Texture Plate, Crumb Cake and Chocolate Chip Markers

I don't know if you can see the texture on the scallop squares. I think it adds to the design. And I used the Blue Gingham Ribbon that SU retired. I still had some and thought it looked good on this card. Check out the inside of the card. I placed a number of Jungle Animals ion the insert of the card. I hope she likes it. Well I am going to work on some more cards. You go out and enjoy the day!

Jungle Baby Shower

On Saturday, I will be attending my FOURTH baby shower in three months! It is for my neighbor's son and daughter-in-law who are going to decorate their nursery in a jungle theme. The things that I bought to go in the nursery had a lot of Certainly Celery, Daffodil Delight, and Chocolate Chip colors in them. So I decided that I would make a card that used those three colors. For the animals, what could be cuter than those kid friendly animals from "FOX and FRIENDS" stamp set. I chose the giraffe, lion, and monkey because they were the animals most likely to be found in the jungle and were also animals that happened to be in the decor that I bought. I thought it turned out very nicely. The supplies that I used for this card were:

STAMP SETS: Baby Bundle, Fox and Friends
PAPER: Certainly Celery, Daffodil Delight, Whisper White, Chocolate Chip
INK: Chocolate Chip, Daffodil Delight
ACCESSORIES: 1-1/4" Circle Punch, 1-3/8" Circle Punch, Texturz Plate, Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder, Big Shot, Scallop Edge Punch, Dimensionals, Poppy Parade, Daffodil Delight and Chocolate Chip Markers

When you look inside the card, you can see the monkeys playing down the side. Isn't that cute? It turned out better than I thought it would. And this card is TOTALLY different that what I started out with. The only thing that is the same is the stamp set. This card fits the gift that I will be giving them on Saturday and I hope they will enjoy the card along with their gift. Well I am off to make another baby card. That one is for my daughter's best friend from High School. She had a boy also. With all these babies, I should start thinking about making more kids cards. Well I have a lot to do today, you go out and enjoy the day!

Nashville Make & Take

Today I was planning to post a card that I made for our downline meeting a week ago but the batteries went on my camera and I misplaced my battery charger. So I am left with pictures that I took but have not used yet.

This a picture of a case that we made at Nashville using blank Clear Mount Stamp cases. What a great idea! This case was designed using "BOTANICAL GAZETTE" and embellished using Baja Breeze SEAM BINDING (great new colors ), new TRINKETS, and VICTORIA- Crochet Trim. The stamp set that was used is"CLEARLY FOR YOU" which is also found in the Occasions Mini. This can be used as a gift. You could put note cards inside or put a pen, note pad and pen inside. I am sure there are a lot more ideas that you can think of to use this project for.

The items highlighted in RED can be found in the Occasions Mini

I can't wait to get my order because I plan to make one for a friend and place notecards in it. I will post that one when I am finished and I find my charger! In the meantime, go out and enjoy your day!

A Gift from Pennie

While we were at Leadership, Pennie gave us a gift package. This was one of the gifts that she gave us. This is such a simple cute gift to give someone. You are probably wondering how this cute necklace was made. The ribbon chain is made from the Taffeta Ribbon that Stampin' Up makes. The Polka Dot pattern is from Love Letter Designer Paper that was adhered to the back of a glass tile. You would be able to use any Designer Series Paper which could coordinate with any of your outfits. So simple but lovely gift to give a friend or a member of your family. Thank you Pennie!

It was very icy here yesterday. But today the sun is shining and those icy spots are starting to melt. They are calling for another blast of snowy weather this weekend. It seems like this Winter is never going to end. Hope where you are, the weather is much better. Enjoy your day!

It's Snowing!

This is the perfect card for today's weather, it's snowing! Well, it is also sleeting and it is causing a complete mess here. I plan to spend the day indoors and only go outside to let Lucy ( my dog ) out.

This card uses the Inlaid Embossing technique. I demonstrated that technique this month at my technique classes and my customers loved the effect it makes. When finished, it looks like you have a single sheet of paper. It does not look it was made from layers. The supplies that I used for this project were:

STAMP SET: All Holidays
PAPER: Whisper White, Bashful Blue, Night of Navy
INK: Night of Navy
ACCESSORIES: Scallop Edge Trim Punch, Northern Frost Decorative Strip, White 1/8" Taffeta Ribbon, Rhinestone Jewels, Dimensionals, Small Oval Punch, Scallop Oval Punch, , Square Lattice Embossing Folder, Big Shot

After I ran the Northern Frost Decorative Strip through the big shot, I took the snowflakes and placed them on top of the Night of Navy card stock. Then I placed that piece into the Square Lattice Embossing Folder and ran it through the Big Shot. When you take it out of the folder, it looks as through it is one sheet of snowflake designed paper. I have started to create more cards using this technique. One of my swaps that I made for Leadership, used this technique. That technique is a very easy technique to do and makes a statement.

Well I guess I will start some new projects today since I know I will be staying inside. I hope the weather is better where you live. Enjoy the day today, whatever the weather!
